The Instructional Designer will design and develop learning and practicing experiences. The goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner. This position will design for all aspects of training including Instructor Led Training, e-learning, synchronous and asynchronous learning.  The Instructional Designer develops, organizes, and conducts custom training and educational programs for internal and external customers in person as well as virtually.  

Responsibilities

  • Experienced in identifying, developing and managing self-paced / online training using a variety of tools and practices including:  Articulate Storyline; Camtasia; video/audio production and editing; animation; instructional graphics, simulations, gaming and designing/facilitating synchronous/asynchronous virtual classes via GoToMeeting. 
  • Experienced in implementing/managing Learning Management Systems (LMS).  Ongoing responsibility for the Elan Brainier LMS System for Kastle University.
  • Conduct needs analysis, consults on engaging learning interventions utilizing a variety of tools and practices, implements end-to-end design, and sustains a portfolio of programs that reflect the technical training needs of Kastle employees and clients with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to quickly and easily develop solid working relationships with subject matter experts to identify target audience’s training needs and content.
  • Apply tested instructional design/adult learning theories, practice and methods (ADDIE, SAM)
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
  • Decide on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments (Kirkpatrick’s 4 levels)
  • Ensure learning products are aligned with performance objectives.
  • Develop and maintain project plans to track progress, resources, and milestones.
  • Creates and distributes written communication of updates, processes changes, and system notifications in a timely manner for all staff.
  • Experienced in developing, delivering, and measuring instructor-led training with excellent classroom management skills. 
  • Maintains subject matter expertise on systems and provides help/support to internal departments.

Qualifications

  • BS or MA degree
  • 5+ years of directly related experience in the development and delivery of training programs.
  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in the development and delivery of training programs, with focus on adult learners and multi-modal training delivery techniques.
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System
  • Visual design skills and ability to storyboard
  • Strong Technical aptitude.  
  • Ability to create PowerPoints presentations, strong knowlege of the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe products
